Dr. Kopco visits Hermantown Middle School’s Pollinator Club
I recently visited the Hermantown Middle School to talk about pollinators with their Pollinator Club. We discussed the importance of pollinators, summarized their natural history, and highlighted the current state of affairs for three prominent pollinators: the western honey bee, the rusty-patched bumble bee, and the monarch butterfly. The 25 or so students in attendance and their teacher were thrilled to meet with a professional entomologist, and are excited to continue working with Guardian.
We at Guardian value pollinators and other beneficial insects, and are proud to manage pest species using integrated pest management techniques that cause the least possible harm to beneficial species such as pollinators. We are also pleased to share our expertise with our community, both in service to our clients and in providing educational resources. Guardian is in the process of partnering with Hermantown school district to construct a pollinator garden.
